The History
Touhou Project is a series of vertical-shooting games created by Team Shangai Alice. The first game, Highly Responsive to
Prayers, was created in 1996 for PC-98 Platform. Four games have been released for PC-98 before Team Shangai Alice switched to
the Windows PC platform. There have been five vertical-shooting games and one fighting game released for Windows since then.
The Story
The story of Touhou Project situations in the realm of Gensokyo. Gensokyo was originally a desolate, haunted region of Japan
ages ago inhabited by youkai and other creatures that terrorize the surrounding lands. To stop the terror, humans were sent to
exterminate them. Battles raged until 1884, when Gensokyo was sealed with the creation of the Hakurei Border. The youkai in
Gensokyo and the remaining humans that were sealed within Gensokyo forged an uneasy truce and began to rebuild their
communities.
There has been little contact between Gensokyo and the gOuter Worldh, since. Today, the only known gateway between Gensokyo
and this world is the Hakurei Shrine, which stands in isolation along the border on distant mountains of the far east.
Or is it? As the years have passed, the Hakurei Border has weakened. Strange events and people have shown up in Gensokyo,
disturbing the uneasy peace. Humans and the youkai have taken arms once againc
The Game
In Touhou Project, you choose a character or a pair of characters to go unravel the mysteries behind the recent strange events.
You must battle monsters and confront enemies, some who are your friends, for the sake of regaining peace within Gensokyo.
The girls are doing their best to prepare, but are you ready to take on the challenge?
